The LoveCats self titled album debuted in 1992. The explosive horn section, led by Rob King, combined with the solid rhythm section melded like cups and cakes. Although the album contained all covers, the classic "Smoke Another Bone" was written and arranged by bassman Joe "Poss" during this time.
The second album, "The Lost Philbert Tapes", was primarily a compilation of live recordings from the Mark II period. It contained classic covers like "Tilt-A-Whirl" and "Mary Had A Little Lamb". On "Mary Had A Little Lamb", Paul had to drink four glasses of home made wine to get a vocal sound that he liked. The album also has some free-form experimental jams which were the trademark of this period.
